| Isidia on the surface and margins of a foliose lichen; some grow over the surface and some grow on or near the margins - we say these are scattered on the thallus because they are not limited to the margins. On some lichens the isidia or soredia are confined to the margins. On this example, the soredia are also growing along the margins. |
